Nas will be bringing his musical prowess to Steve Caple Jr.’s film The Land.
The “One Mic” singer will be producing the soundtrack for the pic, and will also serve as an executive producer on the project.
The Land follows four teenage boys who pursue professional skateboarding as a way escaping the streets of Cleveland, only to get caught up with a local drug queen-pin.
The film stars Grammy-nominated singer Erykah Badu, as well as Moises Arias, Rafi Gavron, Michael K. Williams, Kim Coates, Machine Gun Kelly, Jorge Lendeborg Jr. and Ezri Walker.
“Huge fan of my man Steve Caple Jr. I think he can become the next great filmmaker,” said Nas. “Also, very excited to be working with my former agent and friend Charles King on his first film with his new venture. All great energy around the film, which I believe will yield amazing results.”
Nas has been featured on the soundtracks of many films, including The Departed, Dope, Project X and Creed.
Lizzie Friedman, Greg Little, Tyler Davidson, Blake Pickens, Stephen Love and Karen Lauder are producing the film, with Charles D. King, Poppy Hanks and Jennifer Levine acting as executive producers alongside Nas.
The Land is set to premiere at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival in January as a part of the Next section.
Nas is repped by WME and Grubman Shire.
